Shutter Anatomy

Stiles- Chamfer and Beaded

The Shutter stiles are the upright, vertical sections of solid wood. There are two options, either beaded or chamfer. These are aesthetic choices, it does not change the integrity of the shuter. 

Frame

 A shutter frame is the structure that supports and holds shutter panels in place.

Hinge

The hardware that attaches the shutter panels to the frame, allowing them to open and close.

Rails - Top and bottom

The horizontal components at the top and bottom of the frame.

Shutter Blades/Louvers

The horizontal slats that can be tilted to open or close the shutters.

Midrail (Divider Rail)

A midrail is a horizontal rail that is installed across the middle of a shutter panel. Its main purpose is structural support.
