Shutter Mounting Positions

Mounting Positions

Mounting position refers to where the Shutters are secured to on the window. There are two mounting positions Face fit and Reveal fit.

Reveal Fit

Capture recommends reveal fitting shutters to windows where there is a recess with at least 70mm of unobstructed clearance (e.g. free of window winders, locks, handles etc). Reveal fitting reduces projection and is a tidier look.

As a general rule, 70mm of clearance is required from the furthest point on your window
to the edge of the recess for a reveal fit. This is so that the shutter blades can be opened
completely without hitting the window pane. However, this requirement is relatively
conservative and the exact clearance needed ultimately depends on the type of frame you
will be using. In other words, the customer may still be able to reveal fit their shutter, even if there is less than 70mm between your obstruction and recess.

Face Fix

If there is no recess, face fitting will be required. Note, a recess is not the same as having a window sill.
